Chelsea In Bloom

Honouring The 60s Chelsea Boutique, Granny Takes A Trip

This year’s Chelsea in Bloom theme, Flowers in Fashion, pays tribute to the Chelsea’s long-standing influence on British style. To mark the occasion, The Cadogan Arms is honouring the legendary boutique Granny Takes a Trip, which opened in 1966 at 488 King’s Road.

Known for its iconic storefronts and flamboyant displays, Granny Takes a Trip was a cornerstone of Chelsea’s sixties fashion scene. The boutique became famous for its bold, kaleidoscopic designs, particularly its floral jackets. Worn by legends like The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, and Pink Floyd, Granny Takes a Trip fused music, art, and fashion in a way that had never been done before, leaving a mark on the London and international style.

To celebrate the legacy of this legendary boutique, The Cadogan Arms exterior will be transformed into a striking tribute: a reimagined façade featuring a 3D floral car sculpture made from the bonnet of a vintage Volkswagen Beetle, appearing to burst through the wall. Framed by flower-covered pillars and drenched in vivid colours, the installation captures the bold, rebellious spirit that defined a cultural era.

We are proud to be officially participating in the Chelsea in Bloom competition and will be vying for the People’s Champion Award, a public vote that celebrates the installation most loved by visitors.

A Taste of
Chelsea In Bloom

Drink and dine on the King’s Road on our Summer terrace. Officially launching on Monday May 19th, it’s the perfect spot for people watching with your favourite cocktail in hand.

Sip on one of our vibrant Chelsea in Bloom cocktails, curated in partnership with Casamigos. Try the Elderflower Margarita, a refreshing blend of Casamigos Tequila and Elderflower Liqueur, or opt for Oopsie Daisy, a summery mix of Casamigos, Strawberry, Mint and Lime.

Enjoy your cocktails alongside a limited-edition Lemon Trifle – a floral-inspired twist on our classic Cadogan dessert. Zesty, bright and beautifully layered, it’s the perfect sweet note to mark the occasion.

Available throughout Chelsea in Bloom (Monday May 19th to Sunday May 25th), these specials are designed to be enjoyed in full flower, whether on the terrace or tucked inside the pub.

A Night of
Sixties Sounds

Join us downstairs in the Rose Room for an evening of live music on Wednesday May 21st from 7:30pm, as Hard Candy takes the stage with a fine-tuned set of 60s and 70s classics. This dynamic four-piece band delivers Joplin-like vocals from Kim Logan, stripped-back drums, bass and guitar, perfectly capturing the high energy of the era.

This special event forms part of our celebration of Chelsea in Bloom, with our take on this year’s Flowers in Fashion theme inspired by the iconic 60s King’s Road boutique, Granny Takes a Trip – a legendary destination once frequented by the likes of The Rolling Stones, Beatles and Jimi Hendrix.
